Miles

 I left kilometers behind each day

Running and running, wildly ahead,

Concerned, only of what I've wanted to lose

And the silly things, that I've managed to gain;

I suddenly reflected, from the mirror's shine

And realized, it was a treadmill all the while.

Now I sat by my miles, reminiscing on time-

Left unattended and untouched, left behind.

There was a flash, a smell, a fading smile

As I sat silent, motionless, by the running miles.
